Blind Lake sits in a quiet basin near Shigar, reached by a rough jeep track that keeps most of the tourist traffic out. The water changes colour through the day from steel-grey at dawn to deep turquoise by mid-afternoon, framed by dry granite ridges and glaciers of the Karakoram in the distance. There are no permanent facilities on the shore, which is exactly why it is a favourite pitch for tent camping, sunset photography and stargazing during the summer months.
