Overview
One of Pakistan's least-travelled routes, and one of its most spectacular. Drive overnight from Islamabad through Babusar Top into the Astore Valley, then climb to Minimarg — a remote plateau bordering Burzil Pass just below the contested frontier. Spend two nights under vast skies at Minimarg before crossing into Deosai, the second-highest plateau on earth, for Sheosar Lake and Bara Pani. Return via Babusar Top with optional river rafting near Naran.

Midnight departure from Islamabad along the Karakoram Highway, reaching Naran at dawn for breakfast. Lulusar Lake at 3,400m and Babusar Top at 4,173m follow in quick succession. The descent leads through the Astore valley — one of the north's most unspoilt river valleys — arriving at Mulberry Lodge by evening.

After breakfast, the jeep track winds north-east up into the high pastures towards Minimarg — one of Pakistan's least-visited high-altitude plateaus. Stop at Burzil Pass at the edge of the Northern Areas, then settle into the camp for a night under a vast starfield.
