On many Crossroads
Shandur is a mountain Pass (3738m), connecting Gilgit and Chitral and has been on a crossroad between Central Asia and Indus Valley in ancient times. This was the route taken by British Soldiers from Gilgit to relieve the siege of Chitral in 1895. Its also a popular route for Mountain Bikers and Jeep Safaris.
