Kumrat's ultimate wilderness adventure. After exploring the famous Kumrat Waterfall, jeep and trek into the high-altitude Jahaz Banda camp. Wake at dawn for the demanding but extraordinary hike to Katora Lake — a glacial bowl at the top of the world. Midnight departure from both cities — Islamabad passengers breakfast near Dir, Lahore passengers at Swat Motorway. Arrive at Kumrat and check in. Spend the afternoon exploring the deodar forest before watching the valley sunset and having dinner at the resort.

Morning at the Kumrat Waterfall and free time in the valley. After lunch, board jeeps for the ride toward Jahaz Banda. Hike the final stretch to the highland camp and arrive at Jahaz Banda by evening — a vast meadow above the treeline with Hindukush peaks all around. Dinner and camping under the stars.

The highlight of the trip. An early breakfast then set off for the strenuous but spectacular hike to Katora Lake — a glacial bowl ringed by sheer rock faces and filled with impossibly clear water. Free time at the lake before the descent back to Jahaz Banda for lunch and a well-earned rest. Second night camping at the meadow.

- •Camping at Jahaz Banda can be cold even in summer — pack warm layers
