Shausar

Scene of Broghil Festival

Broghil festival is held at Shauser in the wild grassy valley of Broghil at 3700m, featuring Yak Polo, Buzkashi, Horse and Yak Races and a mountain marathon. Shausar with its little fort is 2-3 hours hike from Lashkargaz and is an ideal spot to camp after return from Karumbar Lake and witness the indigenous Wakhi culture in action in their summer festival.

Wakhi, Tajik, and Kirghiz people meet here to trade, exchange news and arrange marriages during the festival.
