Qaqlasht

The Dry Meadow

Offering a birds eye view of Booni, Booni Zom in the east, Tirich valley in west and Mastuj in the north, Qaqlasht is a rather barren meadow at an altitude of 2231m, that blooms in early April with lime green Grass to host the annual Qaqlasht Festival. The 2000 year old festival, celebrates arrival of spring with cultural dances, polo matches and paragliding from top of Qaqlasht. Apart  from that sunsets from its top, which is a steep hike from its western end are totally worth it offering views to far horizons of Wakhan. Just a half drive from Buni accessible by all sort of vehicles, brings you to lofty meadows of Qaqlasht hammered with jagged Hindukush mountains.
