Karakal is the most famous and religiously significant village of Kalash people. Lying almost at the end of Bamburat valley, it features wooden houses – stacked in tiers, narrow streets and central sitting/dancing area.
It also features a Jestakhan (dancing hall), Malosh (place of sacrifice ) Madokjal (old Kalash graveyard) and a Bashali (menstruation house for women).
