Attabad Lake

Miracle in a Disaster

In 2010, formed as a result of massive rockslide in the Hunza River; Attabad Lake was originally 25kms long and 100m deep, submerging parts of five villages. Now its about 13 kms long and follows the course of river. Water is turquoise blue in autumn & emerald green in summers or rainy season.  Until inauguration of Attabad Tunnel, lake was the only connection between Upper and Central Hunza. Jet skis, colourful wooden boats can be hired to enjoy towering view of Karakorams while you traverse through this ultra blue pristine beauty. Signature view of Attabad Lake with a backdrop of Passu Cones can be enjoyed through luxury resorts built by the Lakeside.
